If the hand area is no longer being, used then it can be taken over by the face. The result is that when I touch your face, you will feel that touch as usual, but you will also feel that part of your phantom hand is being touched.12 Peter Halligan and his colleagues investigated this effect systematically in a person with a phantom hand. Halligan touched each part of the person s face in turn and asked her to describe exactly where she felt the touch in her phantom hand. In this way he was able to generate a map showing the relationship between areas of the face and the phantom hand. Even though these neurons were now responding to touches to the face, this person still experienced the touch as being in a hand that no longer existed. Most phantom limbs occur because a limb has been amputated. In such cases there is no damage in the brain of the person who is experiencing the phantom. But phantom limbs can also occur after brain

As the purpose of the book is to introduce service management issues from both a business and a technical point of view, this case study introduces a real-life example of the implementation project of an interactive end-user service where a content provider is also involved. Tune2Radio is a service idea which Nokia introduced with its partners in 2002 in attempt to both develop a workable service business and application model and demonstrate the attractiveness of this type of services to end-users. This case study is also a good example of services that are targeted to a small target segment but that also provide the opportunity of enhancement in accordance with the evolution of the network and terminal capabilities as well as content. Tune2Radio (T2R) is a personalized, interactive entertainment service delivered in association with a radio station, with an application developer providing the required application and operator to deliver the service to the end-user. The service is designed to be attractive to trend-setting, young users who are early adopters of

If, nevertheless, examinees admit to a past wrongdoing, the examiner will ask for an explanation. The examiner will then play down the examinee s admission (e.g., Well that was when you were a child and didn t know better ) and will reword the probable lie question (e.g., Apart from what you have told me. . . (O Toole, Yuille, Patrick, & Iacono, 1994; Raskin & Honts, 2002)). Alternatively, after an admission to a probable lie question the examiner may respond with OK, but did you take something that makes me think now that you stole the camera The probable lie questions are designed to create a dilemma for the examinee (Raskin & Honts, 2002). On the one hand, the examinee will believe that admissions to probable lie questions will make the examiner think that they are dishonest and therefore guilty concerning the crime under investigation. On the other hand, the examinee will also believe that deceptive answers to probable lie questions will result in strong physiological reactions to such questions, and will lead the examiner to conclude that the examinee was deceptive with respect to the relevant issues concerning the crime in question and, going back to the example, may have been responsible for the theft of a camera. In fact, as I will now explain, the examiner will actually interpret strong physiological reactions to probable lie questions as a sign of truthfulness but will not inform the examinee about this. Overall, probable lie questions and relevant questions are thought to evoke different patterns of physiological responses in guilty and innocent suspects, as is shown in Figure 11.1.

Clean Variables At this point, it is important to include those involved in collecting the data to understand how best to clean the data. A preliminary analysis of the data indicates the use of zero for missing data. Any assumptions should be validated with those involved in collection. Table 9.3 shows the number of zero values in each variable. Removing all observations with missing data would signi cantly decrease the size of the data set to analyze. The variables TricepsSFT and Serum insulin are candidates for removal and will be discussed in the next section. At this point all observations with zero values in the following variables will be removed: Pregnant, Plasma Glucose, DiastolicBP, and BMI. When cleaning a data set, it is useful to look for outliers in the data. For example, there is an observation with a TricepsSFT value of 99. This is over 6.5 standard deviations away from the mean of the data (see Figure 9.1). This
